The Package for Christmas charity
is not only fulfilling children's dreams.
We have heads full of ideas that we try to implement. We want children to be able to continue to develop, even from the hospital ward. We want to distract them from the disease and show them how interesting our world is.

CHRISTMAS PACKAGE PROJECTS

Headband donations
Podaruj mi nakrycie głowy

Gift me a Headband is a mini project organized as part of the 8th edition of the Package for Christmas. It was conceived in response to suggestions from doctors, teachers in hospital-based schools, and also based on our own observations.
Hair loss is a very difficult time for children during treatment. Not all children can come to terms with it; some are deeply affected. Some even become reclusive, feeling embarrassed about their appearance.
By organizing this collection, we aim to meet the needs of these children. We collect scarves, hats, berets, decorative bands, turbans - various types of headbands, which we will distribute among the hospitals involved in the Package for Christmas event, allowing children to choose a head covering for themselves.

If you would like to donate, please contact us.

Book
Wiktor in Oncoland
Książka Wiktor w Onkokrainie

Wiktor is a young boy, about 2 years old, who finds himself in an oncology ward and must learn to navigate it along with his parents.
The book interweaves the story of Wiktor's adventures with descriptions of medical examinations and procedures that the boy experienced while on the ward.

Workshops for parents
Warsztaty dla rodziców

In 2021, the SPACE ACADEMY MAKEMAKE was established.
We created it not only for the children covered by the campaign but also for their parents. Like their children, they need support at various stages of treatment.
The prepared activities will cover topics such as the child's diet during treatment and how to support them, how to properly support the child during treatment, and whether to allow everything. The issue of supporting the siblings of a sick child will be addressed - after all, it’s not only the child who suffers, but the entire family.
There will also be activities for both body and spirit - chair yoga will help bring relief to aching backs in small spaces, and breathing and mindfulness sessions will help restore balance to the body and soul.
We hope that parents will take advantage of our offer and guide us in further directions of development, to provide them with the support they need.

Workshops for children
Warsztaty dla dzieci

While searching for ideas for other forms of support for children undergoing oncological treatment, the thought emerged that in the age of access to new technologies, nothing should prevent children from exploring the world even from their hospital room. This led to the idea of the SPACE ACADEMY MAKEMAKE.
We wanted to create a place that would inspire, arouse curiosity about the world, help in developing new passions, and broaden interests. We collaborated with universities, cultural institutions, companies, and individuals who agreed to prepare and conduct classes for children.
The result of our cooperation is a rich offer of activities. It includes workshops and lectures related to nature, environmental protection, programming, space exploration, and photography. Children will also have the opportunity to visit a virtual theatre and watch interesting plays without leaving their beds.

We would like to continue the activities of the Makemake Academy next year. You can help us in this by contributing to our fundraising campaign.

Medical reclining chairs
for parents
Książka Wiktor w Onkokrainie

In 2017, we organized a fundraising campaign to purchase medical reclining chairs for parents staying with their children undergoing cancer treatment.
Until then, parents had to sleep on mattresses, thin pads, or regular chairs next to their child's bed. We were keen to change this situation. We managed to raise about 100,000 PLN, and the remaining amount needed to purchase 62 medical reclining chairs was donated by the Sursum Corda Association. This was money collected for the treatment of a child who, unfortunately, lost their battle with the disease. The child's mother wanted the funds to support an important cause. We found the best available chairs model at that time in Spain. The chairs were delivered to all three sections of the Pediatric Oncology and Hematology Department of the University Children's Hospital in Krakow in July 2018.
